Global index of the decay of the aura of language, the Dadameter aims at measuring our distance to Dada through a large-scale mapping of language, resulting from a vampirization of Google.
Developed years before LLMs became widespread, it can retrospectively be seen as one of their distant ancestors: semantic proximity is calculated through statistical relations between words, based on lexical co-occurrence across the Web.
Inspired by the work of the French writer Raymond Roussel, the project is a satire about the transmutation of language into a global market ruled by Google et al.
